DOG TRAINING RULES FOR WSRG MORRIS PROPERTY ONLY
These are Rules of the State of Connecticut and must be followed.
If these rules and procedures are not followed or adhered to, this can lead to the State of Connecticut revoking the Dog Training Area from the Woodbury-Southbury Rod & Gun Club.
Dog Training Area can be used from APRIL 1 to SEPTEMBER 14.
There is NO DOG TRAINING ON SUNDAY.
The Dog Training Area is at the MORRIS PROPERTY ONLY.
In MORRIS (at BLDG. 5) you must sign in the folder that indicates DOG TRAINING. YOU MUST ENTER THE DATE LEGIBLY, PRINT YOUR NAME LEGIBLY, RECORD YOUR VALID CT HUNTING LICENSE NUMBER, and LEGIBLY INDICATE THE TOTAL NUMBER AND SPECIES TO BE RELEASED. EACH PERSON MUST USE A SEPARATE LINE. THIS MUST BE DONE EVERY TIME YOU USE THE DOG TRAINING AREA IF GAME IS RELEASED OR NOT.
You must record the number and species of birds released prior to training. You must only harvest the species that you have released. This pertains only to species such as pheasants, quail, chukars and pigeons. Click here to see a Sample Hunting Dog Training Area Report
If no birds are harvested, no tags are needed.
DO NOT TAKE ANY TAGS FROM THE DOG TRAINING FOLDER WITH YOU IN THE FIELD. You do not have to tag the game immediately after shooting.
You MUST TAG THE GAME at Bldg. 5 and RECORD THE TAG(S) NUMBER USED before leaving the premises and USE THE TAGS PROVIDED IN SEQUENCE.
These records are for the State of Connecticut and can be inspected at anytime by a DEP official. They must be accurate and up to date at all times. Basically you must record your name, record your valid CT hunting license number, record number of and name of species released, tag all game harvested, and record the tag(s) number used. This form must be returned to the DEP Headquarters once filled out for renewal of permit. Please do not make any marks on the form.
You can only harvest up to the number and species that you released.
